Tot School

Lucas is 34 months. Gwendolyn is 12 months.
We have had a fun busy week filled with lots of Life School :) We spent a day at Grandma and Grandpa's house. We had a playdate at the Splash Pad. We celebrated Gwendolyn's first birthday. And Lucas has been working on potty training. Never a dull moment!

::Art time

Putting jungle animal stickers on a piece of jungle themed paper.

Making yellow prints.

::Music time

Whacking orange juice jugs with wooden spoons :)

Gwendolyn did not approve of the noise. She wanted to knock the jugs down with the car she was holding.

We sang lots of songs and shook maracas.

::Water play

It's always entertaining to see what finds its way into the sink while I'm not looking. Lucas washed several bottles of juice :)

::ABCs

Magnetic letters and chalk for the chalkboard.
(see all the shreds of paper on the rug? Lucas got ahold of another magazine...)

We also talked about the letter 'e' (it's taped on the floor under the chalkboard) and played with our elephant puppet and eggs.

::Beads

(can you see the Thomas sticker stuck on Lucas's chest?)

::Blocks

Gwendolyn likes to fill the little blue container with megablocks and try to shake them out.

Tim and Lucas built a grain elevator on top on the new megablocks barn. Lucas carefully lined tractors up on top on the blocks.

Gwendolyn stuffed shreds of paper into a megablock. (the paper shreds are pretty plentiful around here)

::Bowls

The kids stacked bowls and knocked them over.

Lucas used wooden spoons to flip the bowls like pancakes.

I love that jungle-themed paper - where did you find it? You had some really great ideas and activities this week! And your kids are just so cute!

Thanks for the welcome to tot school! You've got two little cuties for sure:) I know what you mean about the lack of ideas for the youngest ones...we'll have to stick together on that! I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Thanks! I think they're pretty adorable :)
More often than not, the tot school activities we do are geared for my older tot (he's almost three) and my little one just kind of goes with the flow and participates when she feels like it. Every now and then I have special activities for the little one - but those are usually the ones she doesn't like :)
Hopefully you'll find some great ideas for your little one on the tot school site and the many, many links :) It looks like you are already doing a great job!!

Ah, paper shreds. Lovely, aren't they?

"So kids, want to play a new game? Its called pick up the paper shreds! YAY! Sounds like fun, doesn't it! Wooo!" ;)

Mandy - lol! It works for the big shreds, but some are just too small to be picked up :)

My daughter (she is more or less exactly Lucas' age) loves water play too. It looks like a great week, and it's awesome that Gwendolyn can tag along.
